Wednesday Wickedness # 12

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Ellen Degeneres. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "I was coming home from kindergarten--well they told me it was kindergarten. I found out later I had been working in a factory for ten years. It's good for a kid to know how to make gloves." How old were you when you started working and what was your first job?

I baby sat at 14 and got a part time job at Marshall Field & Co (now Macy's) at 16.
I was the receptionist in the beauty parlor.

2. "My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is." Tell us about your grandparents.

We lived with my grandparents when I was growing up. My Grandfather trained to be an opera singer, but had a family to support. My grandmother graduated from college and was the first librarian in her town of St Joseph Missouri.

3. "Procrastination isn't the problem, it's the solution. So procrastinate now, don't put it off." Do you procrastinate or are you on top of the situations?

A little of both my friends.

4. "Sometimes you can't see yourself clearly until you see yourself through the eyes of others." What would others say about you?

They haven't told me yet.

5. "The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren't any space aliens. We can't be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we're not all there is. If so, we're in big trouble" Do you believe in life on other planets?

Yes, outer space is way to big to think that we're all alone here.

6. "I'm a godmother, that's a great thing to be, a godmother. She calls me god for short, that's cute, I taught her that." Do you have a godchild?

No I don't.

7. "I don't understand the sizes anymore. There's a size zero, which I didn't even know that they had. It must stand for: 'Ohhh my God, you're thin.'" When was the last time that you were called too thin?

NEVER!

8. "I have the worst memory ever so no matter who comes up to me - they're just, like, 'I can't believe you don't remember me!" I'm like, 'Oh Dad I'm sorry!'" Who was the last person that you should have recognized but didn't?

My Dr's wife, I had met her a few years back and completely forgot.
I'm a ding a ling.

9. "I gotta work out. I keep saying it all the time. I keep saying I gotta start working out. It's been about two months since I've worked out. And I just don't have the time. Which uh..is odd. Because I have the time to go out to dinner. And uh..and watch tv. And get a bone density test. And uh.. try to figure out what my phone number spells in words." Do you work out? Have you ever joined a gym and quit almost immediately?

I do work out at home but I have joined several different gyms and stayed for a period of time, then I left!

10. 'We use 10 percent of our brains. Imagine how much we could accomplish if we used the other 60 percent." Do you feel that you utilize all your intelligence in every situation?

I'm not running on all four burners at the same time.
I have to keep some in reserve.
don't want to use it all up.

I'm sorry everyone, I just read my own answers and they are so boring.
Must be the heat! :)

Wednesday Wickedness # 11

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked George Steinbrenner (who passed away Tuesday morning at age 80). Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "But why shouldn't I speak out? Don't you speak out in this country?" Do you speak out as often as you should?

I'm sure not as often as I should.
I do a lot of listening first before I speak.

2. "I am tough. Sometimes I'm unreasonable. I have to catch myself every once in a while." Are you ever tough and unreasonable?

Really not either one. Maybe you should ask my husband this question.

3. "I haven't always done a good job, and I haven't always been successful - but I know that I have tried." Do you believe that sometimes you learn more from a failure than a success?

I think you learn from both, but I think you remember it longer when you fail.
As least I do.

4. "Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing. Breathing first, winning next." Do you feel that you always have to win?

NO...,
but I like to.

5. "It is unbelievable to me that the highest-paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk.” Do you think money always buys greatness?

Money might buy you a great athlete, but not necessarily a great man.

6. "I take my last phone call at home at about 11pm." What time is too late to call you?

If you're selling something, then it's always to late.

7. "Don't talk to me about aesthetics or tradition. Talk to me about what sells and what's good right now." Do you think tradition matters?

Bah Humbug George.

8. "And what the American people like is to think the underdog still has a chance." Do you tend to root for the underdog?

Of course, I'm a lifelong Cub fan!

9. "I don't think I ever could exceed my father's successes. He was a completely satisfied man, he knew what he wanted to accomplish and he accomplished it. I did do a lot, though, to try to please him." Do you ever feel that you want to exceed your parents successes?

Silly question, I'm not in competition with my parents.

10. "I'm really 95 percent Mr. Rogers, and only 5 percent Oscar the Grouch." In terms of cartoon characters, who are you like?

I think I'm 90% Peppermint Patty and 10% Lucy.

Wednesday Wickedness # 8

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme

Today we picked Heather Locklear. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "With a parent, it's always guilt. You want to be there, but you kind of also want to be here." Tell us about a time where you had to be selfish with your time, and felt guilty about it (whether it was time taken from your children or a S/O)

I think a parent(most)always feels a little guilty when they travel without their children. My husband and I went on trips alone.
So I guess,... yes would be the answer.

2. "Sex appeal is not on purpose." Do you feel that you can create more sex appeal or that it's just a given?

It's not a given with me, I have to work on it!

3. "One man is not enough." Has there ever been a time when monogamy seemed difficult?

Of course, but I knew that I would be a fool to ruin what I have.

4. "I think I've always been good so God wouldn't strike me dead." Do your religious beliefs really influence your behavior?

Yes, spirituality does influence my behavior and bad Karma is no joke!
5. "You just have to forgive them for being men." Do you feel there are some things in a S/O that you can't change because of their sex?

I think it works best for men to stand up when they go to the bathroom. Besides that, I can't think of anything else that's not changeable.

6. "When I look in the mirror I see the girl I was when I was growing up, with braces, crooked teeth, a baby face and a skinny body." Do you see a younger less secure person when you gaze in the mirror?

When I look in the mirror, I see me, wrinkles and all.

7. “I was a pregnant vixen.” If you have ever been pregnant, or have been with a woman who was, how did effect your sex life?

My husband thought that I was sexy when I was pregnant, so not at all.

8. “Everything needs to be worked on...” What would you like to work on to become a better person?

I would like to have more time with my family and friends.
So, I work to make that happen

9. "From an early age, I was aware of what America meant, and how the Marines at Camp Pendleton were ready to defend us at a moment's notice. I also remember what fabulous bodies those troops had." When did you think that you understood the sacrifices that people in the military make on behalf of their country?

When I was a teenager in college

10. "The bigger the better. Do I dare say that!?" In your experience, is there truth here?

Be careful what you wish for. I think Heather was talking about her breasts here and they have a way of falling down to your waist in your golden years.

Wednesday Wickedness # 7/ The Boss

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Bruce Springsteen. Here's this weeks Wednesday Wickedness

1. “When it comes to luck, you make your own.” Do you believe you have that type of control over your luck?

I believe sometimes I do have some control. ( who am I kidding!!!)
Just by being in the right place at the right time seems to me how this luck thing really works.

2. “You've got to learn to live with what you can't rise above.” What is something you have had difficulty rising above?

Life is sometimes difficult, (let's be real) but it's how you handle it that pushes you to rise above.

3. “Poor men wanna be rich, rich men wanna be kings, and a king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything.” Would you want to be rich?

I just love these types of questions!
Heck yes, I would like to be rich.
It's not what drives me or makes me happy. it doesn't buy health or happiness and that's what drives me.
But if you have a million that you're not using, send it he.

4. “The best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with.” Tell us about a song that helps you "face the world."

I have many songs that help me face the day. But I can tell, that you want a more specific answer.
So how about Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkle.

5. “In America every thing's about who's number one today.” Have you ever been a fan of someone you thought would last but turned out to be a flash in the pan?

Probably, but can't remember anybody.

6. “Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse?” Has any dream of yours come true?

Oh many, my husband, my children and so much more. These may seem like small dreams but their big to me.

7. “Our American government has strayed too far from American values. It is time to move forward. The country we carry in our hearts is waiting.” What would you change if you became the president?

Gosh I wouldn't, in a thousand years, want to be President.
Personally, I just would love to believe again in government,
but Bruce nailed it here,
"The country we carry in our hearts IS waiting!"

8. "Yeah, I had gay friends. The first thing I realized was that every body's different, and it becomes obvious that all of the gay stereotypes are ridiculous." How do you feel about gay rights?

Our country was founded on Equal Rights for all, and that's the country that I carry in my heart.

9. " It's a sad man my friend who's living in his own skin and can't stand the company." Have you ever been disappointed in yourself?

Oh sure, I have said things and done things that I'm not proud of.
But Maya Angelou said something that I carry with me
"when you know better, you do better"

10. "The best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with." What's your favorite type of music? What's your favorite band?

I don't have one particular band or group or type that's my favorite
I seem to have very eclectic taste , from opera to hip hop.
I find favorites in all.

Today we picked Frank Sinatra. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. “I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.” How often do you drink alcohol?

Well it's really none of your business and kind of rude of you to ask,... but I have been known to love a Martini or two when I go out to dinner.
These days I try and eat organic food, and that goes for alcohol too.
But I have found organic beer.
Not bad, but not even close to a martini.

2. “The best revenge is massive success.” Have you ever gloated or wanted to over success?

Gloated, not that I remember.
I do believe that success is the best revenge.
Besides who needs bad karma!

3. “You gotta love living', baby, 'cause dyin' is a pain in the [butt].” What do enjoy most about your life?

Living it!

4. “I'm not one of those complicated, mixed-up cats. I'm not looking for the secret to life.... I just go on from day to day, taking what comes.” Do you ever overthink a situation in your life?

Oh yes, most things. I'm trying to break this bad boy habit and live moment to moment.
(If you know how to do this 24/7 PLEASE let me know!)

5. “I would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful time living life, a man who had good friends, fine family - and I don't think I could ask for anything more than that, actually.” Tell us about your best friend.

Oh gosh, I have many great friends. These friends just know how to complete my thoughts and love me. Oh and they know how to laugh their ass off.
What more can you ask for ?

6. “I like intelligent women. When you go out, it shouldn't be a staring contest.” How important is intelligence when picking (or having picked) a s/o to you?

It's important, I like a smart man and I got one. He's cute too and just my size!

7. “I drink to the confusion of our enemies.” What's the closest situation that you've had to dealing with an enemy?

I don't deal with enemies,I have no time for them , so I walk around.

8. “Orange is the happiest color.” What's your favorite color?

I think yellow is the happiest color and the happiest flower.
I wear mostly black and white and my house it a creamy light brown with white woodwork... OK, pretty boring!

9. “Dare to wear the foolish clown face.” Are you ever a clown?

No, clown's are scary!!!!

10. “Don't get even, get mad.” Have you ever tried getting even?

I'm sure I must have at sometime, but it must not have been too successful, cause I can't remember. I try not to get mad, but I'd be lying if I said that I never do.

Wednesday Wickedness #5

Hi and welcome to our brand new Wednesday Wickedness,
brought to you by Janera
We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Phil Jackson. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "Always keep an open mind and a compassionate heart.” Do you ALWAYS keep an open mind?

I try to keep an open mind. I have been proven wrong way to many times, not to keep an "Always Open" sign in my brain.

2. “Wisdom is always an overmatch for strength.” Who is the wisest person you know? Who is the strongest?

My friend Kay's Mother is very wise for sure.
My husband for strongest.

3. "Yes, victory is sweet, but it doesn't necessarily make life any easier the next season or even the next day." Do you think a successful day at your job makes the next day better or not?

I think the day after a good day at work starts you out better mentally.
So if your attitude is good, you're 49% there towards having another good day.
In other words, it's a cr-p shoot to be honest!!!

4. "...True joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way." How would we tell by your behavior if you are having a bad day?

I donno, ask my husband. He's pretty astute at knowing if I'm having a bad day.

5. "I gave it my body and mind, but I have kept my soul." Do you have days when you feel you gave it your all, but may have compromised your values?

Well I might sell my soul for a piece of chocolate someday and my values would not be compromised! :)

6. "Your problems never cease. They just change." What do you feel is your biggest problem at the moment?

I'm pretty much carefree with no problems.
(liar,Liar pants on fire)

7. "My dad always had this little sign on his desk: "The bigger your head is, the easier your shoes are to fill." He really drilled that in." Does your ego sometimes get in your way?

No, I tend to be the opposite.

8. "There is a saying that I love...It says: "There are no Zen masters, there's only Zen." "Zen master" is a contradiction in terms. You don't master Zen." Do you believe in Zen? If yes, can it be mastered?

I always believe I can be enlightened in some way,
and I don't see myself mastering that for a very long time.

9. "You can not teach competitiveness." Do you believe you could teach someone, like your child, to be competitive?

I think you can teach your children to do their best.
After that, the rest is up to them.

10. "Home is where the heart is, right?” Obviously Phil didn't originate this quote. He said it when asked if he'd retire after this season. Do you believe home is not a place but rather a state of mind?

I think both, state of mind and a place.
(What if you hate being home, then your state of mind would be a nightmare)

I'm usually glad when I don't get it.

5. " I have to believe in fairytales and I have to believe in love." Do you believe in fairy tale love?

Some of it but nobody is happy all day, everyday. I am usually happy everyday but sometimes not all day.

Yesssss, give and take works for my relationship just fine.

Yes, I did. It's different though.
Girl power rules!

8. "But there are a lot of rumors out there that you just have to ignore." Has anyone ever spread something malicious about you?

Yes and I didn't correct it and I ended up letting my 10 year old boyfriend believe that I didn't like him. Tisk! I'm sure he got over it.

9. "I set goals that are just a little bit out of reach, but not totally out of reach." How do you go about setting your goals?

I work up to goals, sometimes by baby steps and I don't give up.
I visualize what I want and work in that direction.
