Microfiction Monday # 19

Welcome to Microfiction Monday,
where a picture paints 140 characters.
Susan over at Stonyriver hosts Microfiction Monday.

Here's this week's picture, and my story to go with it:

Since the Dixie Chicks' politics fizzled in Peoria,
they hoped their past would be forgiven
by joining the Touring Shakespeare Festival.

The rules are simple,to use Susan's picture she posts then compose a story up to 140 characters including spaces and punctuation.
Then hop on over to Susan's and leave your name. She even has a brilliant character counter to help us count.
As Susan promises, it's fast, it's fiction, it's fun!

  1. I must look out for that festival :-)
    Nicely done.

  2. Thanks Anthony;
    Should be around this summer :)
    Have a great week!

  3. Ah, good one, my friend! I'll be checking out the festival, too! We do have fun with pictures, don't we?
    Have a great week, Peggy!

  4. OMG, what a career switch! But you know, I think that's them...!

  5. Sylvia;

    I know that we do, you and I have a lot of fun with this.
    Maybe we could go together, when we find that festival this summer.
    Have a great week friend.

  6. Susan;

    I sure thought it was them when I first saw the picture.
    Had fun again this week with your meme.
    Hope your days are much better a head!

  7. Crazy good, Peggy. So that's what happened to the poor Chicks...

    Have a great week.

  8. The Dixie Chicks and Shakespeare, Too Funny, Nice one Peggy

  9. OMG this is just too funny. I can't stand those chicks I must say and I hope Shakespeare makes them fizzle as well ROFLMAO!!! We were sort of on the same wave length this week with our stories :)

  10. Thom;

    Two of the chicks are coming out with a new albun, sans Natalie
    I think he Shakespeare festival is in their future.

    Betcha can't wait to hear them !!!
    Just like me.
    Have a great week Bill!

  11. Michael;

    Yep, that's what happened, at least in my head!
    Thanks so much for your great comment!

    Kind of whacky , Dixie Chicks and Shakespeare.
    Thanks so much for coming by.

  12. Thom;

    More then you wanted to know I'm sure...what a good sport you are. :)

  13. Thanks Christopher;
    Until next time, have a great week.

  14. Looking forward to the album! I'm still on the lyrical theme. My micro-fiction

  15. Peggy your story is so well done! I think the old DC girls would probably benefit greatly!
    Very well done and very very funny, and fun!
    I'd let my toes soak all day in a stream like that!

  16. Thanks John;

    The albun would be something to hear.
    Can't wait to read yours!
    Have a great week.

  17. Allisonian;;

    Not a bad gig to be able to soak your feet. I'm for that
    We do have fun here on MM, don't we?

  18. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha! I can't see the Dixie Chicks being passive, even with Shakespeare! Great one!

  19. My connection failed so I'm not sure how far my comment got! Apologies for any repetition.
    Great take - theatre, politics, all part of the same performing arts ;-)

  20. ha ha ha is right!
    that was clever

  21. I laughed and laughed at this one, although I think time has redeemed the Dixie Chicks.

  22. SLM;

    You're right, I can't see the DC ever being wallflowers.
    I always enjoy your comment, thanks so much for visiting my blog!

    I think the DC will be back at some point. I am not a serious writer(no kidding) but I do enjoy the humor of all of this!
    Have a good week!

    We do have fun here, thanks to Susan.

  25. Poor Dixie Chicks. I heard they're getting a new lead singer. :)

  26. Janel;

    I heard something like that myself.
    Shakespeare was not their strong suit!
    Hope you week is the best!

  27. When one door closes, another openes, eh? I love Shakespeare, but I wonder what a Dixie Chick version would sound like.

    My MM: The Break

  28. Hahaha! Oh you did a fantastic job with this! Have a great week!

  29. I wonder what the Bard's career might have been like if he'd taken a similar political stance... I'd guess a beheading would have been in the 'offing.' Nice one!

  30. Kristine;

    Hope this reply is not a duplicate becaue your comment made me smile too! :)

    Picture Sakespeare with a southern accent!
    Thanks for coming by today!

  31. LOL! I wish them luck. some people remember to dislike long after they have forgotten why.

    What a perfect take on this photo.

  32. My Nasty Romance:

    You're probbly right. Ouch a beheading is far worse then the Shakespeare festival Political views can ruin a career, but thank goodness we have that right to express them or not!

    Have great week!

  33. Cheryl;

  35. Oh, that is so funny!

    Don't you just know some straight laced politician type would be berating them to their face for their costumes....the trying to get them OUT of said costumes later?
