Welcome to Microfiction Monday,
where a picture paints 140 characters.
Susan over at Stonyriver hosts Microfiction Monday The rules are simple,to use Susan's picture she posts then compose a story up to 140 characters including spaces and punctuation.
I'm a little rusty after a few weeks away.
Thank you all again for the kind words of encouragement that many of you left on my blog. I really missed being here.
So here is this weeks picture and my story to go with.
Dang!
I should have listened to EARL instead of Wanda and gone to the neighborhood Safeway to bring home the
"Catch of the Day"!
Now leap on over to Susan's and leave your name. She even has a brilliant
character counter to help us count.
As Susan promises, it's fast, it's fiction, it's fun!
And wouldn't you know it my Hubby is off fishing today! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's self service taken to the ultimate :-)
ReplyDeleteNice one.
Yeah, you really gotta listen to the weather person for YOUR area! Good one, Peggy.
ReplyDeleteEarl made a lot of trouble for some folks along the Eastern Seaboard. Though I used to know a Wanda that made a lot of trouble as well. Hmmm Safeway sounds like a better place to be.
ReplyDeleteWhen you go out to catch your own "catch of the day" there is always the chance that it might catch you.
ReplyDeleteI am picturing a fish wearing an apron and chefs hat while stirfying a fisherman with a nice batch of fresh seaweed.
But it wouldn't have been as fresh!!!!! :O)
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you back, Peggy!! And Diane is right -- wouldn't have been nearly as fresh! We do have to pay for quality!! Great one, as always!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Funny one. I wrote a post earlier today about hurricane Earl...too bad the guy hadn't paid attention!
ReplyDeleteHave a good week. Cheers.
Hope;
ReplyDeleteNothing but calm seas today.
I'll bet you have fish for days!
Have a great clam day tomorrow!
Sylvia;
ReplyDeleteMy guy had one purpose and nothing would deter him.
When I was over reading your MF I saw the post on Earl. Enjoyed it so much!
Thanks Sylvia , good to be back.
ReplyDeleteWe sure do pay for freshness! Poor guy, his wife sure wanted it bad.
Anthony;
ReplyDeleteYour comment rocks! Had me laughing.
Thanks
Diane;
ReplyDeleteGreat point.
Always want the freshest possible.
LOL!
quilly;
ReplyDeleteI like your picture. Maybe we could get Chaeley tuna to have the staring role!
You have a funny mind.
Bill you are so quick. Maybe you might be referring to the Wanda that got rid of her husband Earl in the DC's song "Goodbye Earl."
ReplyDeleteThought I'd throw that in just for fun.
Have a blessed week my friend.
Pat;
ReplyDeleteI do agree, nobody's getting me in a boat until my friendly weatherman says it's safe.
Have a wonderful Labor Day
cute take on a precarious situation...glad Earl missed most of the coast.
ReplyDeleteLOL...doesn't seem to me like you are rusty LOL Excellent story my friend. Poor Earl. He might end up being the catch of the day. :) Well done. Have a great Monday :)
ReplyDeleteNEVER listen to Wanda! How funny.
ReplyDeleteLin;
ReplyDeleteIt looked very bad a few days ago but as luck would have it, it turned.
Thanks Lin so much for coming by.
Have a nice labor day!
Thanks Thom.
ReplyDeleteMy brain still feels like I have a bowl of mush inside. Better everyday.
Hope you don't have to labor on Labor Day!
Fay;
ReplyDeleteWanda is bad news for Earl!
Thanks for coming by.
HOpe your weekend is going well.
I Love Safeway!
ReplyDeleteI loved your story also Peggy.

Thanks G-man.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any Safeways close to us amymore,
and I really liked that store too!
Have a good week ahead.
Very cute. You brought a laugh to me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy first try at a Micro-Fiction Monday is up.

At least he knows that catch will definitely be fresh! :D
ReplyDelete-that sort of rhymed, didn't it? lol
See! men often bite off more than they can chew!
ReplyDeleteJillien;
ReplyDeleteYou're right, you wouldn't get me in that boat for anything.
Have a great holiday tomorrow.
Sophie;
ReplyDeleteIt does rhyme, very good!
Thanks for coming by today. Have a great week ahead.
PG;
ReplyDeleteI'll be over to read your MF. Thanks for coming by my place today.
That naughty Wanda. You should never listen to her!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week x
Yae, Peg! It's wonderful to see you back again. I'm thinking Safeway is the place I'd go for my fish, too. I keep telling my brother that, too.
ReplyDeleteHa! How clever to make Safeway a haven from Earl. :)
ReplyDeleteKay;
ReplyDeleteGood to be back,I missed you guys,
Hope you are all well.
Today is a perfect Fall day. Love it!
Ellie;
ReplyDeleteThat Wanda and Earl have a history of not getting along. Just ask the dixie chicks.
Have a great day today. Fall is just around the corner for us.
I used to love Safeway when I lived in California. Thanks EG for coming by and leaving such a nice comment. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice comment, Peggy. You are really good at this, too! I always enjoy your take on each picture.
ReplyDeleteWonder if Wanda had an ulterior motive? LOL. Great job with this one!
ReplyDeleteSafeway is on the way maybe,
ReplyDeletebeautifully plotted fiction,

Either way, he was doomed. The last I heard, aliens took over Safeway!

Have a nice evening tonight and see you next time.

I didn't know that !!! :)
I'm glad you liked my Moonflower too.
Let supermarkets take the strain! Thanks for dropping by to read my 140. Sorry for the delay but dealing with drama of son having to dash across Italy to catch his flight. Hope your week goes better then his!
ReplyDeleteSafeway does seem like the better bet! LOL And it's so so good to see you again -- I've missed you!
ReplyDeleteOh, but why settle for lack of adventure? Nice one, Peggy!
ReplyDeleteHa! I bet he's not looking forward to the journey home neither! Nice one. :O)
ReplyDeletenice !
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to keep a good fisherman in! I take Earl doesnt fish. Good one, Peggy! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for peeking in on mine.
..
An excellent story for your restart. Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteThe fish counter would certainly have been a lot easier and safer! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! Hope all is going well for you.
ReplyDeleteEarl got it right.
ReplyDeleteFall? You're getting fall already? I always knew it was fall when our chestnut would lose its leaves. Now I don't have that seasonal monitor anymore. So sad to know it's no longer there.
