I thought that I knew enough about our friends from down under and their beautiful country, but I learned many new facts about the their history and about the strength of their people.
So if you like long epic style movies, pop some corn, grab a blanket and give this movie a go!
Now, what about you...have you rented anything lately that was just pure entertainment?
Oh, thanks for the info Peggy, I've been looking for something to watch -- I burned myself out on movies for a while. So, I'll give it a go. Particularly now since, like you, I'm suddenly in such close touch with so many from down under!
ReplyDeleteWe just watched August Rush with my mom. I had to translate through the entire film. It was a good thing I saw it before. She LOVED it! It's really a lovely film.
ReplyDeleteOooops! Forgot to say, I will watch Australia, too one of these days. I like Nicole but ahem...I'd like to see Hugh also.
ReplyDeleteAustralia seems like the perfect choice during these last cold days of winter: I would love to visit faraway places and some sunshine! So it's on my list now Peggy, thanks!
ReplyDeleteSylvia;
ReplyDeleteThe movie was a nice escape from reality.
Having new Australian friends here made the movie much more enjoyable for sure!

ReplyDeleteI liked August Rush very much, so did Jim.
I really do like Hugh Jackman, I thought that he did a great job with the usually boring Oscars.
Susan:
I can report that that there was only warm weather in this movie. A definite perk !
Oh Peggy do you know I have not seen it yet. It is a long movie isnt it? And Baz Lurhmann tends to go over the top with his movies so I wasn't sure if it would make Autralia out to be something it was not. My sister saw it though and really enjoyed it. I never really liked Hugh much until I saw him on the Oscars. He is just a great normal kind of guy and very laid back just like most Aussie men are. I will have to go rent this movie out. I saw Slumdog Millionaire last week and its a sweet movie, not plausible but very sweet. You watch it and feel inspired and that is a good thing. Glad you saw the Australia movie - I will definitely have to get it out now.
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy, I just found your blog! I saw Australia and my husband and I loved it! I loved the scenery, the story, Hugh Jackman-LOL! I am going to buy the DVD too when it's out!

ReplyDeleteThe movie is a little over the top at times, definitly could see Baz Luhrmann's handwork..... particularly in Nicole Kidman's character. No, it wasn't the best movie ever but I loved the scenery and the charactors. I was rooting for them.... and I liked that.
Thanks for the heads up on Slumdog...I want to see that one too...another feel good movie!

ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you.. and thank you for leaving your comment. I am so glad that you agreed with my opinion of the movie. Hugh Jackman is my idea of a leading man...multi talented and not hard to look at either!
Thanks. I would like to see this one too!
ReplyDeleteYes Peggy I was pleasantly surprised at just how much I enjoyed 'Australia'. I loved the magical realism of it - and of course the great photography of our land.
ReplyDeleteHugh Jackman IS really something!
