Happy Mother's Day Mom!

What a desolate place would be a world without a flower!
It would be a face without a smile, a feast without a welcome.
Are not flowers the stars of the earth, and are not our stars
the flowers of the heaven.
- A.J. Balfour

It's my favorite time a year again and spring has finally made it's official entrance! I was like a kid in a candy shop yesterday, so many beautiful selections and choices. How can I pick from such a cornucopia of beautiful things!
Traditionally my Mom and I would start planting our flower garden on Mother's Day weekend. Because of ill health, my Mom is not able to garden anymore, so I do it for both of us. Form the initial trip to the Nursery to the final planter, we share it all! I can tell by the sound of her voice that she loves it still, which is a gift to us both!
Be sure to double click on each picture to see what I saw!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE WOMEN HERE IN BLOGGER THAT I HAVE COME TO CARE SO MUCH ABOUT!

  1. I used to plant flowers in my mom's yard for mother's day also now she's been gone over two years. But I have an aunt I'll visit and bring flowers to...my mom's younger sister.

  5. Some women love to shop, some are addicted to shoes...like you, when we get to the floral section of a place, someone better hold me back!

    Thanks for the beautiful floral trip...and for once I didn't spend a dime. ;)

  10. Happy Mother's Day to you, too.
    My Mother has great difficulty, but she still gardens. I myself am posessed with gardening at this time of the year.
    I have my plant shopping done (really, I'm never DONE)and we're getting plants out of our green house as well. The pots and planters are filling up. We'll be taking a load to plants to my mother on Sunday, and then helping her get everyting planted.

  11. Though it is difficult for her, my mother still gardens. It's just part of who she is, and I am the same way. We love this time of year, too.

  13. My hubby has learned to drive past nurseries at top speed. He never, never takes me to one. A vist to a garden center is a real budget muncher! I can't resist. Wayne says I don't buy them... I adopt them. That's pretty close to true.

    What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day. Beautifying your world while spending time together. sigh... wish I could do that with my mom. She knew every plant by it's botanical name, and could grow just about anything from a clipping or a start. Her yard was a mini Garden of Eden.

    Hsppy Mom's Day... I'll look forward to seeing some of those flowers in your yard soon. I just posted waaaay too many photos of some of my gardens and favorite flowers. I love digging in the dirt and carrying on a friendly conversation with my daisies and delpheniums.

  14. Aww, love flowers too and it always makes me feel that everything is ok with the world when there is colour around me. So sweet you and your Mom can share this tradition together. Have a great Mothers Day both of you. Take Care.

  15. I love garden shopping! I wonder if it would still be fun... if you garden shopped online with your mom? She could pick out colors?

    Happy Mothers Day!!

  16. The greenhouse used to be the one place my Sis and Momma used to spend Saturdays going through. We would bring home so many plants that my Dad would roll his eyes because he knew there wasn't much space left in the yard for our new finds.

  21. mom/caryn;

    I like that your husband refers to your flowers as adoptee's...I think that's very appropriate cause i feel that way about my flowers. I love to nurture them and watch them struggle to survive and then they rebloom...so exciting!

    Lilly;
    Flowers do have a way of making us feel like life will go on and indeed it does.
    Hope you had a great day too Lilly and that Des is better!

  23. I used to help my grandmother with her gardens later in her life and she too enjoyed me sharing what I found with her. She is the one that gave me this gift of growing things. Well her and God.
