Freedom.../ Quotable Sunday

This past week the world celebrated the anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down. I can remember watching on television as many Berliners gathered at the Brandenburg Gate to test their governments new order of “free passage” through all border crossings. To think that the tearing down of this wall all came about from a "peaceful revolution" gives me hope that maybe other world conflicts can be resolved peacefully.

The Brandenburg Gate was also the place in 1987, where President Ronald Reagan made a memorable speech that included my number 1 quote below.

  1. I always enjoy seeing what quotes you come up with. :)

    Did you know that the Speech writer for Reagan wanted to take that phrase out? He later wrote that no matter how he argued against it, Reagan just said he'd "Think about it", then went ahead and used it anyway. The writer said he had to eat humble pie when it became the most quoted/remembered part of that speech. :)

    I didn't know that about RR famous wall speech. I told my husband and he had never heard that either.
