MIcrofiction Monday #5

Welcome to Microfiction Monday,
where a picture paints 140 characters.

Susan over at Stonyriver hosts Microfiction Monday. I still can't believe that I can write something on my blog in under 140 words.

The rules are simple,to use Susan's picture she posts then compose a story up to 140 characters including spaces and punctuation.
Then hop on over to Susan's and leave your name. She even has a brilliant gadget to help us count and that would be a character counter

As Susan promises, it's fast, it's fiction, it's fun.

Here's this week's picture, and my son, Bobby's(Robert) story to go with it.
He is in visiting for the holidays and he thought that Susan's Microfiction Monday was a piece of cake, So I challenged him last night. He found it was not as easy as he thought.
Love that,
...love when a parent, me, can still surprise their grown child.

The man spied Tim and-smiling-thought of his watch.
"I may lose the face to my pockets yet draw comfort from knowing he is with me."

  1. He's a good sport, to play! Trying to get a real story into that length is not easy at all I think, but it's a growing form, and every week I find a new Twitterzine, so go figure!

    I love his take on this challenge --I always go for the silly or straightforward (that's just me LOL) and most weeks folks blow me away with the stories they find in the picture.

    Thanks, Peggy and Robert! Merry Christmas!!

  2. Susan;

    Bob had fun doing this, but it was much more challenging then he thought at first, when I was writing mine. His first story 375 characters. I mentioned the character counter but he said that he was used to counting from writing speaches . Not so eaay he came to find.
    The beauty for me is being able to shave here and there and still have something that makes a little sense.

    It was fun watching him play with the words.

  5. Very well done. As I've told Susan I don't think to long and hard about these (and I'm sure my writings reflect that LOL) If I do I get thinking too much and too wordy and to confused, not to say I'm not always confused LOL. I just take one look and get an idea quickly and write. This is one of my favorite meme's to do. :) Excellent and Happy Holidays to you both :)

  6. How cool of your grown son to join in your blogging fun. Has he now been bitten with the blogging bug?

    I'm not usre if he has been bitten yet with blogging but he has said a couple of times how supporting he thinks you all are.
    I think he was thinking that some of the comments would be critical.
    It was nice for me to show him what my blogging is all about.
    He was very impressed with all of you on this meme!

    You just never know;

    I think Bobby takes away a good feeling about blogging. He works in Washington and he has read political blogs . They tend to be critical. Since I talk about blogging and my other kids look at me like I'm from another planet.
    This was nice for me. Thank you all for being so supportive of him and me.

    I feel the same way. Sweet of him to support what I like to do. It was usually the other way around!
    Merry Christmas to you my new friend!

  13. What a good guy you raised to jump in feet first into our fun. :)

    How anyone can read a political blog and not want to strangle someone is beyond me. Must to be the good home training. ;)

    Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    I read some of the political blogs sometimes and I get so mad that I type a comment and then I erace it. Not very productive but it works for so far!
