Medical news... and a Teachers Lesson.

I am so sorry for being absent for a few days. My three month oncologist appointment in Chicago was this past week. I also had to have a bunch of tests before hand this time in order to help my oncologists track my disease better and make sure nothing funny was going on the insides!

I'm back home now and feeling good! Everything on the inside is behaving and my blood work is still stable.
I am still stage one, which is good! The Dr's did say this time that I might be ready for treatment in about a year or so.
Unfortunately for me, my disease is still there, (Darn) with my WBC climbing about 25% every three months.
My lymph's are bigger each time also,... and I can report that I am now the proud owner of three double chins instead of just one! :)

I feel very lucky though and I am staying positive. My family and friends are my biggest boasters and I am so thankful to have them in my life!
( I include all of you in this group ,... so many thank yous to everyone here from moi!)

While waiting in the many waiting rooms that I was in this past week, I saw this news item and thought that I would share it;... seems that some schools in the nation have been faced with a
particularly unique problem.

I bring this to your attention because of my great admiration for teachers everywhere !
This solution is a perfect 10 in my book!

It seems a number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use
lipstick and would put
it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick,
they would press their lips to the mirror leaving
dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man would
remove them, and the next day the
girls would put them back.

Finally, the principal decided that something had to be done.
She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the
maintenance man. She
explained that all these lip prints were causing a
major problem for the
custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night
(you can just imagine the
yawns from the little princesses).

To demonstrate how difficult it had
been to clean the mirrors, she asked the
maintenance man to show the girls
how much effort was required.

He took out a long-handled squeegee,
dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned
the mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers ... and then there are educators.

Bravo!

  2. I am glad to hear that your numbers are ok. I'd say ...try not to think about the 3 chins, but I don't have the ability to not think about my hands being so challenged. So, hang in there!

  3. Mare;

Thanks Mare, you always make me smile and that's the best meds! Can't take yourself too seriously when you look in the mirror and that person is grinning back!

I'm so sorry to hear about your hands giving you problems. It's hard when body parts just don't want to work right!
You and I'll just keep on finding the humor in life!
