Shopping;

Since I am trying to stay as healthy as I can and stay out of crowds, I decided to try my hand at cyber-Monday and shop on line today.
( I forgot to mention another reason that I am shopping on line today, 7 inches of snow covered by a sheet of ice on the ground outside my window)

So I put "cyber Monday" in my google search box and off I went to shopping land.... and I must say it was a not bad....I was able to get about six gift and it was relatively easy to understand! I got free shipping on all my gifts so it was almost like I went out to the stores and brought the packages home myself!

After I was all done for the day...I sat back in my chair feeling pretty proud of myself! But wait something was missing! What could it be..why did I feel this way..?

Then it came to me...people were missing..the personel interaction as your standing in-line at the electronic counter.. the people that hold the door of the elevator for you when your hands are full of packages! The elder gentlemen that are standing by the outside door waiting for their partners in crime, asking if they might help me take my packages to the car and then at the car they stand and watch with amazement as my scooter is being lifted by a lever and placed securely in the back of my Honda.!

Oh and Mare if you're out there ...I also missed singing Christmas carols at the top of my lungs as I'm driving with nobody else in the car to tell me to stop ! : )

  1. I love the cyber-shopping too. You are right, though, about the human interaction. Sometimes it is fun to interact with the total strangers who are in the same boat as you.

  2. Happy to hear that you got some shopping done. I am going to try the cyber Monday route-'cause it's still Monday! In reference to singing at the top of my lungs accompanied by the radio, I believe that Carole King and Linda Ronstat are my best renditions.

  3. I think we're going to do cyber-Wednesday actually. I just hope they have free shipping at REI.

  4. Ack! You got that clock widget. I'm sorry I forgot to check on it when you asked. Looks like you're really learning a lot!

  5. Just a note to let you know good thoughts are being sent your way from Maine, via Kay in Hawaii.

  6. What a beautiful opposite effect of what we hear on the news. Personal interaction is sometimes what we need. I hate to shop at stores, probably because I'm always in such a hurry. That special interaction though is so important in every part of our lives.

  7. I'm glad you got your shopping done even if it wasn't quite as much fun as the "real" thing. I've never really liked to shop, but I do understand missing the personal interaction. Hey, you can always sing the carols at the top of your lungs while you're wrapping those presents later!

  8. Your post really had me thinking how we can take things for granted. Even the things like having to stand in line, which most people would be angry about, can be looked at as a blessing by those who are unable to do so.

    Thanks for opening my eyes to something I haven't thought about in awhile.

  9. Shopping online does leave out some important aspects, but try to remember that when you're online, you can flip from one store to another and always get the best deal out there. You can always go to the big stores (amazon, best buy, etc) and find out what other people have to say about the item you're trying to make a decision on.

    There is still nothing better than hearing someone driving down the road singing christmas carols at the top of their lungs. ;)

  10. I prefer shopping in stores. It's fun to browse and find deals and feel the excitment of the people buying presents at Christmas.
