I'm back and feeling fine!

I'm back from my trips and all is well.
My mom is on the mend after she almost died one day last week.(seriously)
She is back under the care of her lung specialist and is feeling tons better.
When we went to the lung specialist's office for our appointment, my moms oxygen level was reading 53%. Now after the proper medication, her oxygen level is back to where it should be, in the mid 90%
(PHEW, close one)
Also the nice young women doctor at the assisted living facility has agreed to check with her lung specialist before treating my Mom for anything lung related.
Just what I had hoped for, nobody got their egos bent and everybody wins.
My mom was afraid of hurting the women doctor's feelings...
So mission accomplished on that one too!

My doctor appointment in Chicago also went well. I still have leukemia(darn), but I am still in the smoldering stage, and I don't have to go back for six months.
I will keep having my blood tested every three months, so unless something major changes, I won't have to see my oncologist until early December.
Progress...good progress I think!

(BTW, I like that term, smoldering...at my age, being classified as "smoldering" is a compliment!
(I definitely see the glass half full, ya think?)

I got this from the web this morning and I thought it was very appropriate for my post today.

Hope it gives you a chuckle or two!

"This may be the best Living Will I've Seen!

I,____Peggy ______________, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.

Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth grade biology if their lives depended on it, or lawyers/doctors interested in simply running up the bills.

If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:

Glass of wine
Chocolate
Margarita
Martini
Cold Beer
Chocolate
Chicken fried steak
Cream gravy
Sex
Mexican food
Chocolate
French fries
Chocolate
Pizza
Sex
Ice cream
Cup of tea
Chocolate
Chocolate
Chocolate
....it should be presumed that I won't ever get better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes, let the 'fat lady sing,' and call it a day

Have a Drink - IT'S 5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE !"

Did you notice how many times chocolate was mentioned...7.
Sex... 2!
Defiantly written with me in mind!

  2. That's Hilarous! I wonder what my attorney and phycician will say when I hand it over to them.

I've been eating NO sugar for a month. I'll tell you what!! I'd trade my car for one bite of that cake.

Glad to hear you're mom is well.. and that you're "smoudlering" I'm hoping that's as good a thing as it sounds.

  3. Thank goodness your mom is doing better. It's such a worry, isn't it? My mom has been falling quite a bit lately which is worrying me. It was only two years ago when we installed safety bars in her bathroom and she laughed at us saying she wasn't that old yet that she would need to use it. First we worried about our kids and now we worry about our parents.

I'm glad to hear your leukemia is smoldering. I'll look forward to hearing you tell me it is merely an ember about to extinguish.

I love your living will. I should change ours to yours. :-)

  4. Glad all is well with your mom and that you are doing well, too. I think the good news certainly deserves plenty of chocolate to celebrate. Love the LW!

  5. Susan;

That makes two chocolates then. Yum!
    Kay;

We do have to take care of our parents but it's different then taking care of our kids. But part of the process for sure!

I let you know when I'm down to embers!

Chocolate for everyone, it's on me!
Thanks for your good wishes. I'm putting all the good wishes in a bag and taking them out when I need a little sunshine.

    Mom/caryn

No sugar for a month...wow you deserve the prise.
Smoldering means that it's not progressing... that's it up a little, down a little. So many new things coming out in the next year or so, medicine that is.

  17. I feel all washed out and muscles ache if my oxygen levels get down to the 80s. It is hell when that happens. Glad you mom is OK now.

  19. Glad your Mom is better! Both of our Moms are dealing with medical issues this week. Someone sighed the other day when I told them we didn't have kids. I grinned and added, "It's okay, we've been busy raising parents."

If I could find the right type of fire extinguisher, I'd be glad to send it to you...without putting out the desire for chocolate or your rep as a desirable woman. ;)

Oh the Living Will is too funny! My Seniors group did "Five Wishes" this year, which is sort of a do-it-yourself Living Will. They will find this a welcome addition!

Glad you're back in one piece. Now, sit and recharge your batteries. Well of course, with chocolate. :)
