Since this weekend marks the 40Th anniversary of Woodstock, I thought that I would go back in time and see if the lyrics from that era would still be relevant today.

For Quotable Sunday, I decided to use a few lines from Graham Nash's song,
Teach your Children Well.

Can you hear/ and do you care /and can you see we

Back in the 70's my parents did the best that they could to listen to me.
They cared very much but didn't know how to take the time and really listen to
what I wasn't saying.

/ Must be free to teach the children /
To believe and Make a world that / We can live in

Today we are more liberated as a society and we know more about asking our
children the right questions. We also encourage them to believe in themselves
We teach them to believe that one person can make a difference.

I think this song wants each generation to understand what each other is all
about. By teaching each other, we will bring about change for the good !

  5. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. When I graduated from H.S. in 1975 this is the song my classmates chose to sing at our graduation. It meant alot then to me and still does today. Its a song for all the ages.

You're right, the concept of this song and so many others speaks as loudly today as it did 40 years ago!

    Kay;
Wouldn't it be great if we would take the time to learn from the past...then maybe we wouldn't have to repeat them like we always do!
    Thanks Kay!

  16. This is such a wonderful post. I love timeless songs with a message that speaks loudly today and will stand the test of time with the message intact. Music is my muse, it has magic-like powers for me.

  17. I love that song Peggy and that was a good one to choose. Cosby Still Nash and Young - my kind of music where the words were sometimes more meaningful than the music. Things have changes its true. Communication is far more open than it was in our teenage years I am sure. Now I am going to listen to the song - it will take me back.
