Holidays

I have been taking a few days away from blogging trying to finish up my holiday shopping, wrapping, baking and other holiday traditions. My oldest son Robert is coming in next week and will be staying for eight days. The longest that I have had him all to myself in years! I might share him with the rest of the family, tis the season after all!
I'll be checking in and out, just to keep me up on all of my bloggy friends. Hope you are enjoying all the holiday traditions that mean so much to you too!

Found this cartoon and Dave Berry quote, hope it brings a smile to your day!

"Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space."

  1. Congratulations on getting all that holiday stuff done and on getting Robert back for a while!

    Thanks for quoting Dave Barry meanwhile--he's always such a hoot. What a mind!

  2. Susan;

    Thanks Susan, it's the first year that I'm getting stuff done and not feeling too stressed( which is silly cause it all works out one way or another without the stress)
    Dave Berry is a hoot!
    Have a good weekend !

  3. I miss Dave Berry! He was the voice of sanity in the wilderness of stupidity. Glad you get your son for that many days in a row!

    Barry's comment reminded me of a redneck joke one of the British ladies wanted to tell last year. I told her she couldn't, because her proper accent ruined the punch line. She told it, then I told it in "deep south" accent and she burst out laughing.

    Bottom line was a redneck waitress complaining that the 3 Wise Men weren't dressed like Firemen. The customers stated firemen had nothing to do with Christmas or the Wise Men. The waitress replied, "Did to. In the Bible it said that the 3 Wisemen had come from afar." {Drawl that like a southerner and it sounds like "a fire"}

    Don't forget to rest up every now and then. You're making the rest of us look bad!

  4. Hope;

    You have such a great sense of humor, I love to laugh and I love the people that make that happen repeatedly!

    I missed Dave Berry too. When I found this one quote from him, I just had to post it.

    You're right, an English accent would not have made this joke funny. I can just hear those southern words sing .

    I will rest some my friend, I do get tired.

  6. I, too, have been busy getting everything done before my daughter and her familiy arrive. But we haven't been so busy as to prevent us from having fun along the way. I hope you are too. Your quote and cartoon certainly are fun.

  7. It will be a quiet Christmas for Adam and I, but we don't have a problem with that -- we enjoy doing our holiday in our own silly ways! Love the quote from Dave Barry! I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family, Peggy! So glad Robert is going to be there for 8 whole days!! That's terrific! I did so enjoy having my oldest son, David, here this summer for a whole week and for my birthday!

    Enjoy, always!

    No dog yet, huh?
    Maybe for Christmas! Not a puppy, but older.
    Have a calm, healthy, and happy Christmas, Peggy.

  13. That is wonderful that your son is coming in for that long! Enjoy your visit!
    Love that Dave Berry quote! I have had people follow me in the parking lot and then they are very dismayed with their long wait while I load and buckle 2 children into my car!!
    Have a great week!

    I have had the same situation with fellow parkers. I unload my car and smile and say I'm sorry.
