Observations on Growing Older

I have not been blogging in a few days because I have been busy shopping for a new mattress. The one I purchased 15 months ago has a hole in the side where the pillow top floats. Maybe that's the problem, it floated to the edge and ripped the seems! Anyway, I have a 15 year warrentty , so I have been testing out other models for the past few days. Hopefully I'll be done soon, but in the meantime, I found this senior moment and thought it was funny yet oh so true.

1. Your kids are becoming you...and you don't like them
...but your grandchildren are perfect!

2. Going out is good.
Coming home is better!

3. When people say you look "Great"...
they add "for your age!"

4. You forget names ... but it's OK
because other people forgot
they even knew you!!!

5. The 5 pounds you wanted to lose
is now 15 and you have a better chance
of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.

6. Remember when your mother said
"Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"?
Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

7. You used to say,
"I hope my kids GET married ...
Now, "I hope they STAY married!"

8. You miss the days when everything worked
with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

9. You used to use more 4 letter words ...
"what?"..."when?" ???

10. You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.

11. Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

12. What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

13. You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet ....
2 of which you will never wear.

14. But old is good in some things:
old songs, old movies,
and OLD FRIENDS!!

  1. Nope, mine are STILL freckles. :)

    That's funny...especially working with the crowd I do. And personally I'd like to murder the designer who came up with "sleeveless". Even hated that as a kid...weird tan line!

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Hope;

    I bet you're so cute with your freckles. I have some of both! I'm so lucky!

    I also hate sleeveless shirts..I see them on a lot of people, but not me.

    Hopefully I'll have a mattress by this weekend!

    Have a good weekend yourself my friend!

  3. Good luck with your mattress! I can really, really sympathize. I STILL don't know exactly HOW happy I am with ours. But a hole? You got a hole? Sheesh!

    Old friends are the best! Definitely! And you look great, Peg! Period!

  6. Kay;

    This mattress thing is a pain. I knew that you would know what I was going through. It's not something that you buy every year, so you try and pick the right one, then you discover a hole in the side of it. Thank goodness, there was no problem with returning it and getting a new one. It's just the pain of trying them out and being extra careful.

    Lin;
    Growing old sure beats the alternative but it is not for sissies!

    Have a great weekend Lin!

    Joanie;

    Me too! It sure isn't pretty either!

  8. OMG Those are too good! LOL A few have hit too close to home, eek!

    Good luck getting the mattress meanwhile. That's something I hate to shop for -- too worried about getting it wrong, and the expense, oh my...
    :-P

  9. Susan;

    My thoughts exactly. Split decisions are not confortable for me. Plus I had to test them out alone. My husband didn't want to come again! So if it's bad, it's his fault!
    Have a good weekend!
